FIX: The UNIX-enabled objects in some containers are not updated with the latest Windows Server 2003 R2 schema-defined attributes

Consider the following scenario. You have an operating system that has Windows Services for UNIX 3.5 and Server for NIS installed. You upgrade the operating system to Windows Server 2003 R2, and then you install Identity Management for UNIX (IDMU). In this scenario, the UNIX-enabled objects in one of the following containers are not updated with the latest Windows Server 2003 R2 schema-defined attributes:

• The containers that are not default containers
• Any other manually created containers, such as organizational units

Note These containers are in the "Active Directory Users and Computers" snap-in.

The UNIX-enabled objects in the default containers are updated with the latest Windows Server 2003 R2 schema-defined attributes.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

File information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

To work around this problem, use the LDAP Data Interchange Format to manually import the Windows Server 2003 R2 schema-defined attributes for the UNIX-enabled objects that are not updated.
