Internet Explorer 6 closes unexpectedly with an unrecoverable error when you run a Web application that uses the InnerHtml property in Windows XP or in Windows Server 2003

Symptoms

You use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 in Microsoft Windows XP or in Microsoft Windows Server 2003. You run a Web application that uses the InnerHtml property in Internet Explorer 6. In this scenario, Internet Explorer 6 closes unexpectedly with an unrecoverable error, and you may receive the following error message:
Internet Explorer 6 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

Cause

This problem occurs because the null pointer check is not implemented in the Mshtml.dll file in Internet Explorer 6.

Resolution

Hotfix information
