More information

You can run Windows Services for UNIX on x64 hardware if you are using a 32-bit operating system.

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Release 2 (R2) includes Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA). We suggest that you have both SUA and Software Development Kit (SDK) for SUA installed because SDK for SUA provides an environment that resembles UNIX. Additionally, SUA and SDK for SUA are only for 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. No SUA or SDK for SUA exists for the Itanium-based operating system.
