If you are running the .NET Framework version 2.0 on Exchange Server 2003, you receive errors messages when you enable the Synthetic OWA Logon rule in MOM 2005

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You are running Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005. And, you are using the Microsoft Exchange Server Management Pack for MOM 2005 to monitor Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 computers. In this scenario, you receive error messages in the Operator console every 15 minutes. You receive these error messages if the following conditions are true:
  • You enable the Synthetic Outlook Web Access Logon rule in MOM 2005.
  • You are running the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0. Or, you upgrade the .NET Framework to version 2.0 on the Exchange Server 2003 computers that are running the MOM 2005 agent.
These error messages resemble one of the following error messages:

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Hotfix installation information

You must install the hotfix on the Exchange Server 2003 computers that are running the MOM 2005 agent and the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Prerequisites

You must install Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) before you install the hotfix.
