Symptoms

After you change a security role or after you import a customization file in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you experience timeouts or slow performance on the computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server. (The Microsoft Dynamics CRM databases are installed on this computer.) You may notice high CPU usage and high memory usage. This problem occurs until the role change operation is complete or until the import process is completed.

Notes
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 updates the privileges for new custom entities after you import a customization file.
  • If you have more than several hundred business units set up in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the role change operation may take several hours.
  • Typically, this problem occurs if the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 database contains more than 50 business units.

Although you typically experience the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section when you have more than 50 business units in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, this fix improves performance even when you have fewer than 50 business units in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

To change the security roles, follow these steps:
  1. Click Settings.
  2. In the Settings pane, click Settings, click Business Unit Settings, and then click Security Roles.
  3. Double-click a security role.
  4. In the Role dialog box, change privileges for the security role.
  5. Click Save.
To import a customization file, follow these steps:
  1. Click Settings.
  2. In the Settings pane, click Customization, click Import Customization, and then click Browser.
  3. In the Choose file dialog box, locate and then click the customization file that you want to import, and then click Open.
  4. Click Upload.
  5. Click Import All Customizations.
