Symptoms

You create an image control in a form or in a report in Microsoft Office Access 2007. However, you cannot add to the image control an image file that uses one of the following formats:
  • Corel Draw (.cdr)
  • Computer Graphics Metafile (.cgm)
  • Macintosh PICT (.pct)
  • WordPerfect Graphics (.wpg)

Cause

This behavior occurs because the Preserve source image format (smaller file size) option is enabled. Access 2007 does not support preserving the image formats that are described in the "Symptoms" section in an image control.

Workaround

To work around this behavior, configure Access 2007 to convert the image file to the bitmap format. Then, and add the image to the image control. To do this, follow these steps:

  2. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Open.
  3. Locate the database file that you want to open, and then click Open.
  4. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Access Options.
  5. In the left pane, click Current Database.
  6. In the Application Options group, click Convert all picture data to bitmaps (compatible with Access 2003 and earlier).
  7. Click OK.
  8. Open the form or report in design view.
  9. Under Form Tools or Report Tools on the Design tab, click the image icon in the Controls group.
  10. In the Detail pane, drag the location for the image control to where you want the image control to appear.
