You cannot undo all the changes that you make to a document in Word 2007

Symptoms

You cannot undo all the changes that you make to a document in Microsoft Office Word 2007. This behavior occurs when you perform one of the following actions:
  • You open a document from an earlier version of Microsoft Word, make some changes to the document, and then convert the document to Word 2007. To convert the document to Word 2007, click Convert on the Microsoft Office Button.
  • You first save a document in the Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) format in Word 2007.
Notes
  • This behavior does not affect documents that were previously saved in the Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) format.
  • This behavior does not affect changes that you make to a document after the document is first saved in the Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) format.

Workaround

To work around this behavior, perform one of the following actions as appropriate for your situation:
  • Do not convert the document to Word 2007 until you have completed the changes to the document. If additional changes are needed after the document is converted, close and then reopen the document.
  • After you first save the document in the Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) format, close and then reopen the document.
  • Complete the changes to the document before you save the document in the Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) format.
