You cannot install software for the Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth 2.0 on a 64-bit operating system

Symptoms

You try to install the Microsoft IntelliPoint software or the Microsoft IntelliType software for Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth 2.0 or for Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 in the x64 versions of Microsoft Windows. When you do this, you receive the following error message:
Setup cannot continue because this software version is not supported on 64-bit operating systems.

Cause

This issue occurs when you try to install the 32-bit version of the IntelliPoint or IntelliType software.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Search.aspx?displaylang=en
2.In the Search box, type intellipoint bluetooth, and then click Go.
3.Click the link for the 64-bit IntelliPoint or IntelliType software.
4.Follow the steps that appear on the screen to download and install the software.
