You cannot configure a relationship in the "Relationship: Account to Account" dialog box in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0

Symptoms

You open the Relationship: Account to Account dialog box to configure a relationship in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. In this situation, the value in the Type of Behavior list is System instead of Parental. When this problem occurs, you cannot click Configurable Cascade in the Type of Behavior list. Therefore, you cannot configure the relationship. For example, you cannot click Cascade None in the Assign list.

Cause

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • The relationship type is Account to Parent Account
  • The behavior type of the parent account relationship is System

To run this hotfix, follow these steps:
  1. Log on as an administrator to the computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server.
  2. Run the Mscrm30manageaccountandcontactparentrelationships.exe file.

    Note By default, this file is in one of the following folders:
    • C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM\Tools
    • C:\Program Files\ Microsoft CRM\CRM Server installation\Tools
  3. Click Account to parent account or Contact to parent contact.
  4. Click one of the following items in the Assign list, in the Share list, and in the Unshare list:
    • Cascade All
    • Cascade Active
    • Cascade User-Owned
    • Cascade None
  5. Click Change cascading parameters.

More information

If you do not click Cascade None in the Assign list, all child accounts are reassigned when accounts are assigned to a new owner.
