Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You send a meeting request to a Lotus Notes user. The Lotus Notes reschedules the meeting request and then sends the meeting request back to you. However, when you open the meeting request, the Accept button, the Decline button, the Tentative button, and the Propose New Time button are unavailable in Microsoft Office Outlook. Additionally, when you right-click the meeting request and then click a command, you receive the following message:
As the meeting organizer, you do not need to respond to the meeting.
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You are the organizer of the meeting request.
  • Your mailbox is hosted on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.

Cause

This problem occurs when a Lotus Notes recipient proposes a new time. When this occurs, the PR_MESSAGE_CLASS message class is not translated to IPM.Schedule.Meeting.Resp.Tent. Instead, the PR_MESSAGE_CLASS message class is translated to IPM.Schedule.Meeting.Request.

Workaround

To work around this problem, manually update the meeting request. Then, use Outlook to send the updated meeting request.
