You cannot install the Brazilian or Russian version of Windows Server 2003 on a computer that uses a SATA RAID controller

Symptoms

You try to install the Brazilian or Russian version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 on a computer that uses a Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) RAID controller. However, the installation operation stops unexpectedly in this situation. Additionally, you receive an error message on a blue screen after you finish installing the required RAID driver from a floppy disk.

Notes
  • An Adaptec 2410SA controller is an example of the SATA RAID controller in question.
  • This problem does not occur in the English-language versions of Windows Server 2003.
  • To install a RAID driver from a floppy disk during the Windows Server 2003 installation operation, press F6.

This problem occurs because there is a problem in the Txtsetup.sif file in the Brazilian and Russian versions of Windows Server 2003

Service pack information

More information

You have to integrate this hotfix into the original Windows Server 2003 CD. To do this, use one of the following methods:
  • Replace the original Txtsetup.sif file on the CD, and then burn a new CD.
  • When you run the setup command, use the /m switch, as follows:
    Winnt32.exe /m <path of the new Txtsetup.sif file>
