An Information event is logged instead of a Warning event when a user reaches or exceeds the disk quota limit on a Windows Server 2003-based computer

Symptoms

You configure disk quotas on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer. However, when a user reaches or exceeds the quota limit, the following event is logged in the System log:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Ntfs
Event Category: Disk
Event ID: 37
Date: Date
Time: Time
User: User_Name
Computer: Computer_Name
Description: A user hit their quota limit on volume Drive_Letter:
This event is incorrectly logged as an Information event instead of as a Warning event.

Note When you view the quota entry in the Quota Entries window, the entry is correctly listed as a warning.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem is partially corrected in Windows Server 2003 R2. File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) in Windows Server 2003 R2 correctly logs the event as a WARNING with a source of "SRMSVC" in the Application log.
