This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
 | You are using a computer that is behind Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004. |
 | The Web browser is configured to use the Windows Proxy Auto Discovery (WPAD) file. |
 | You have added IP addresses to the proxy exceptions list to bypass the proxy server.
|
This problem is caused by the auto-generated Windows Proxy Auto Discovery (WPAD) file. This file makes the Web browser examine the proxy exceptions list to resolve names for a URL that contains incorrect syntax. The Web browser waits to respond until the name resolution time-out period has elapsed for all IP addresses in the proxy exceptions list.
Note Name resolution takes a longer time if the computer or the network adapter is not configured to use the P-node NetBIOS type.
