Workaround

To work around this problem, obtain an IP address from the DHCP server before you open the PPP connection. If this problem has already occurred, disconnect the PPP connection, and then renew the IP address from the DHCP server before you open the PPP connection. Sometimes, you may have to restart the computer before you can renew the IP address.

To renew the IP address, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type CMD in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. At the command prompt, type ipconfig /release, and then press ENTER. The IP addresses will typically both be 0.0.0.0.
  3. Type ipconfig /renew, and then press ENTER. The DHCP server will now provide the correct IP address.

Technical support for Windows x64 editions

Your hardware manufacturer provides technical support and assistance for Microsoft Windows x64 editions. Your hardware manufacturer might have customized the Windows x64 edition installation with unique components. Unique components might include specific device drivers or might include optional settings to maximize the performance of the hardware. Microsoft will provide reasonable-effort assistance if you need technical help with your Windows x64 edition. However, you might have to contact your manufacturer directly.
