More information

When you copy a file to a WebDAV server by using the Windows XP WebClient, this process involves two internal steps:
  1. WebClient copies an empty file (0 bytes) and then sets the file attributes.
  2. WebClient copies the file contents and then sets the file attributes.
Notes
  • If you copy an empty file to a WebDAV server, WebClient performs only step 1. Therefore, the time stamp is correct in this situation.
  • The Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider DAV client does not support DAV attributes.
This problem occurs only in the following installations:
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows Server 2003 SP1
  • Windows XP SP2
  • Windows XP SP1 with the hotfix from the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article installed:
820193 Last Modified time value is not updated correctly when you modify any file on a WebDAV share
