View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • Two Business Portal installations use the same instance of Microsoft SQL Server for Great Plains.
  • Each Business Portal installation has Microsoft Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS) installed.
  • Each Business Portal installation uses different content and configuration databases.
In this scenario, you may receive a "Page Not Found" error message on the computer where you started Business Portal. Although two computers are running Business Portal in the same environment, only one of the computers receives the error message.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, the installation that receives the error message must use the content and configuration database that is used by the other installation. To make this change, follow these steps:
  1. On the Business Portal installation that did not receive the error message, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Sharepoint Central Administration.
  2. Click Set configuration database server, note the database server name and the SQL Server database name, and then click Cancel.
  3. Click Configure virtual server settings, click the virtual server name that you specified during the installation of Business Portal, click Manage content databases, and then click the content database.
  4. Note the database server name and the SQL Server database name, and then click Cancel.
  5. On the Business Portal installation that received the error message, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Sharepoint Central Administration.
  6. Click Set configuration database server, change the database server name and the SQL Server database name to the values that you noted in step 2, and then click OK.
  7. Click Configure virtual server settings, click the virtual server name that you specified during the installation of Business Portal, click Remove Windows SharePoint Services from virtual server, click Remove without deleting content databases, and then click OK.
  8. Click the Windows SharePoint Services link, and then click Extend or upgrade virtual server.
  9. Click the virtual server name that you specified during the installation of Business Portal, and then click Extend and map to another virtual server.
  10. Click Use an existing application pool, click the application pool that you are using for the other Business Portal installation, and then click OK.
