INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to create a Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains Extender macro. An Extender macro enhances the Microsoft Great Plains macro system by automating the playing of macros

RE INFORMATION

The following examples illustrate how to create Extender macros.

 

Example 1

This example is for Fabrikam. The example creates a sales order for Aaron Fitz Electrical with items 100XLG and CAP100.

 

Part 1: Create the Microsoft Great Plains macro

1. Click Transaction , click Sales , and then click Sales Batches . Create a sales transaction entry batch. Name the batch TEST .
2. Click Transaction , click Sales , and then click Sales Transaction Entry .
3. Click Tools , click Macro , and then click Record .
4. Save the macro. Name the macro Blanket Sales Order .
5. In the Type ID field, click Order .
6. Press the TAB key to move to the Order ID field. The program sets the default value.
7. Press the TAB key to move to the Document Number field. The program sets the default value.
8. Press the TAB key to move to the Customer ID field. Type AARONFIT0001 .
9. Press the TAB key to move to the Batch ID field. Type TEST .
10. Press the TAB key to move to the Item Number field. Type 100XLG .
11. Press the TAB key to let the program set the default values for the U of M field, the Quantity field, and the Unit Price field.
12. Press the TAB key to move to the second line. Type CAP100 .
13. Press the TAB key to let the program set the default values for the U of M field, the Quantity field, and the Unit Price field.
14. Click Tools , click Macro , and then click Stop Record .

Part 2: Create the Extender macro

1. Click Tools , click Extender , and then click Extender .
2. In the Extender Objects section, click Macros , and then click New .
3. In the Macro ID field, type BLANKET SOP ORD .
4. In the Description field, type Blanket SOP Order for AARONFIT0001 .
5. In the Macro Path field, locate the path of your macro.
6. In the Attach Type field, click Extras Menu Item .
7. In the Product field, click Great Plains .
8. In the Series field, click Sales .
9. In the Form field, click Sales Transaction Entry .
10. In the Window field, click Sales Transaction Entry .
11. In the Hot Key field, click Ctrl+B .
12. Click Save .
13. Turn on the keyboard shortcuts. To do this, exit Microsoft Great Plains, and then log on again.
14. Click Transactions , click Sales , and then click Sales Transaction Entry .
15. Press Ctrl+B.

The program creates the sales order.

 

Example 2

In this example, the program populates the Sales Transaction Entry window's Add Item field from the Extras Option menu.

 

Part 1: Create the Microsoft Great Plains macro

1. Click Transaction , click Sales , and then click Sales Transaction Entry .
2. Click Tools , click Macro , and then click Record .
3. Save the macro. Name the macro SOP Add Item .
4. In the Sales Transaction Entry window, click Extras , click Options , and then click Add Item .
5. Click Tools , click Macro , and then click Stop Record .

Part 2: Create the Extender macro

1. Click Tools , click Extender , and then click Extender .
2. In the Extender Objects section, click Macros , and then click New .
3. In the Macro ID field, type SOP ADD ITEM .
4. In the Description field, type Sales Transaction Entry Add Item .
5. In the Macro Path field, locate the path of your macro. To locate the path, click the ellipsis button.
6. In the Attach Type field, click Window Open .
7. In the Product field, click Great Plains .
8. In the Series field, click Sales .
9. In the Form field, click Sales Transaction Entry .
10. In the Window field, click Sales Transaction Entry .
11. Click Save .
12. Click Transactions , click Sales , and then click Sales Transaction Entry .
13. In the menu, click Extras , and then click Options . The Add Item option should be selected.
