Icons may be incorrectly displayed in Internet Explorer 6

Symptoms

When you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 to view icon (.ico) files, the icons may be incorrectly displayed.

Note The icons may be displayed as solid black.

Cause

This issue occurs if the icon images are not 32 BPP (bits per pixel). In this case, Internet Explorer 6 incorrectly decodes the .ico files.
