FIX: You may receive an error message when you use asymmetric encryption in user profile properties in Commerce Server 2002 SP3 after you install Windows Server 2003 SP1

Symptoms

After you install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message. This error message occurs when you use asymmetric encryption in user profile properties in Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Service Pack 3 (SP3):
Server Error in '/YourCommerceSite' Application.
Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E21. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Commerce Server site application tries to decrypt a profile property that has not yet been initialized.

Resolution

Hotfix information

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Prerequisites

Restart requirement

You must restart Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) after you apply this hotfix. To do this, run the following command at a command prompt:
