The PrimaryVolumeSpaceRemaining property is not set when you use quiet mode to install a hotfix on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You are using a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Microsoft Windows XP.
  • You install a Microsoft Windows Installer product on a non-system drive.
  • You use quiet mode to install a hotfix.
In this scenario, the PrimaryVolumeSpaceRemaining property is not set. If you use a custom action that relies on the PrimaryVolumeSpaceRemaining property being set correctly, the custom action fails and causes the hotfix installation to fail.
