Windows HTTP Services does not let you append a port number to the service principal name in a program or service when you use Kerberos authentication on a Windows Server 2003 SP1-based computer

Symptoms

When you use Kerberos authentication on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based computer, Microsoft Windows HTTP Services (WinHTTP) does not let you append a port number to the service principal name (SPN) in a program or service.

Note Windows Server 2003 SP1 is included in x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003.
