Symptoms

A Microsoft Windows Server 2003 certification authority can send e-mail messages to users, to administrators, and to certificate managers about operations on the certification authority. However, after you configure the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) exit module to send these notifications on a certification authority server that is running Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, the notifications are not sent.

Note This problem does not occur on servers that are running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition.
