Register this connection's addresses in DNS option is disabled. In Microsoft Windows 2000 and in the original release version of Windows Server 2003, a domain controller can register these records when the option is enabled.
In Windows Server 2003 with SP1, the DHCP Client service registers the A record for a client computer. The Net Logon service registers the SRV resource records for a domain controller. In the original release version of Windows Server 2003 and in Windows 2000, the Net Logon service registers the SRV resource records regardless of whether the
Register this connection's addresses in DNS option is enabled.
In Windows Server 2003 with SP1, you can set the domain controller to register SRV resource records even if the
Register this connection's addresses in DNS option is disabled. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- In the left pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type DnsUpdateOnAllAdapters, and then press ENTER.
- On the Edit menu, click Modify, type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
