More Information

In Microsoft Dynamics AX, many areas exist in which you can enter lead-times. Master Planning uses lead-times in the following order to determine when to release purchase orders:
  1. Microsoft Dynamics AX uses the lead-time that is associated with the main vendor for an item.

To assign a lead-time to the main vendor for an item, follow these steps:
    1. In the Main Menu dialog box, click Inventory Management, and then click Items.
    2. In the Item dialog box, click the Reference tab.
    3. Click the Quantity tab, and then enter the purchasing lead-time.
  2. If the following conditions are true, Microsoft Dynamics AX uses the lead-time that is assigned to a trade agreement for a vendor:
    • A vendor is not assigned to an item.
    • The Find Trade Agreement check box is selected in the Master Planning Parameters dialog box.

Note To open the Master Planning Parameters dialog box, click Master Planning in the Main Menu dialog box, expand Setup, click Parameters, and then click the Planned Orders tab.
  3. Microsoft Dynamics AX uses the lead-time that is entered in the Item Coverage dialog box.

To enter a lead-time in the Item Coverage dialog box, click Inventory Management, click Items, click the Setup button, click Item Coverage, and then click the Lead Time tab.

Note Microsoft Dynamics AX uses the lead-time that is entered in the Item Coverage dialog box only if no trade agreement exists or if the Find Trade Agreement check box is not selected.
  4. Microsoft Dynamics AX uses the lead-time that is entered on the Quantity tab for the item.

To enter a lead-time for an item on the Quantity tab, click Inventory Management, click Items, and then click the Quantity tab.
