Symptoms

In Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you use the Distributed File System (DFS) console together with the Show Root option. However, when you expand a domain in the Trusting domains list, a red exclamation mark appears. You cannot select the domain DFS root in the list.

This problem occurs when the NetBIOS name of the domain and the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the domain are of the same length.
