A National Semiconductor IrDA device does not transfer data on a Windows Server 2003-based computer

When you transfer data on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer by using a National Semiconductor Infrared Data Association (IrDA) device that has a Plug and Play ID of *NSC6001, the data transfer may fail.

This issue may occur when the IrDA transceiver that is configured for the IrDA device in the device properties of your device does not match the hardware that you are using. For example, the default IrDA transceiver for the IrDA device may not match your IrDA device.

To resolve this issue, configure a different transceiver type in the IrDA device properties. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
2. Expand Infrared Devices, right-click the National Semiconductor IrDA device, and then click Properties.
3. On the Advanced tab, click Infrared Transceiver A under Property.
4. Under Value, click a different transceiver, and then click OK.
5. Test the IrDA device. If the issue is not resolved, repeat step 4 and step 5 to change the transceiver to a different type.
