More information

After you install ISA Server 2004, ISA Server 2004 restarts the IISAdmin service. However, the services that depend on the IISAdmin service do not restart. Therefore, the following conditions occur:
  • Exchange is unavailable.
  • Any Web sites that are hosted on the ISA Server 2004-based computer stop.
  • The Network News Transport Protocol (NNTP) service stops.
  • If you are running ISA Server 2004 on a Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003-based computer, you cannot successfully use the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard to configure your Internet connection.
The following services stop after the Setup program restarts the IISAdmin service and must be restarted:
  • Microsoft Exchange IMAP4
  • Microsoft Exchange Information Store
  • Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks
  • Microsoft Exchange POP3
  • Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine
  • NNTP
  • World Wide Web Publishing Service
  • Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
