To copy the text of an error message, use the CTRL+INSERT keyboard shortcut to paste the text into Notepad or into an e-mail message.


To copy the text of an error message into Notepad, follow these steps:
  1. When you receive an error message, press and hold down CTRL while you also press INSERT.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type notepad, and then click OK.
  3. On the Notepad Edit menu, click Paste. Or, right-click anywhere in the body of a new, blank Notepad document, and then click Paste.
