Custom printer forms are not updated when users connect to a spooler resource on a cluster node that is running Windows Server 2003

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

After you connect to a spooler resource on a cluster node that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, custom forms that specify printing characteristics are not automatically updated. Printing characteristics such as paper size and printer area are affected by this problem. When you connect to the spooler resource by using an administrator account, you do not experience this problem.

Cause

This problem occurs if the spooler resource is moved or if the spooler resource fails over to another cluster node.

Custom forms that specify printing characteristics are not cluster-aware. Therefore, these forms are stored in the local registry hive and not in the Cluster hive. In this scenario, the custom forms that are available on one cluster node are not available from a different cluster node.
