DAV query of the information store for message properties returns 0x80004005 error.

Symptoms

When you use Distributed Authoring and Versioning (DAV) to query for message properties on the information store in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, a 0x80004005 (ecCallFailed) error is returned if the urn:schemas:mailheader:to property is requested. Additionally, an error is returned if there are messages in the result set that have recipients where the value of PR_EMAIL_ADDRESS is an empty string ("").

Resolution

Service pack information

    Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3 and the KB 870540 hotfix rollup package
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1

Restart requirement

The Microsoft Exchange information store service may automatically stop, and then the service may restart when you install this hotfix.

This hotfix does not replace any other software updates.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
