If these messages occur more than four times in a row, the following message is logged in the cluster log file: Note This message indicates that the physical disk cannot be brought online after four attempts. This message may appear during heavy activity, such as a migration. A migration typically occurs only one time, but it may be alleviated by bringing the disk online manually. If you cannot bring the disk online manually, you may need to contact your storage vendor or any filter driver vendor that the disk I/O may pass through.
Note Error 258 could also occur if a volume shadow copy has failed, causing the volume not to clear the hidden flag.
Note These messages are new to Windows 2003 Advanced Server and Windows 2003 Datacenter Editions and were not displayed in previous versions.
