This article describes the Microsoft Office Excel 2003 issues that are fixed in the Excel 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated September 24, 2004.

• The change event handler for the RefEdit control cannot make formatting changes to worksheet cells
  
  
• Excel 2003 may stop responding when you open a workbook that contains conditional formatting. This issue may occur when the conditional formatting formula contains off-sheet references.

This problem was first corrected in Office 2003 Service Pack 2.
