FIX: The "Backup BizTalk Server" SQL Server job is unsuccessful in BizTalk Server 2004

Symptoms

When you run the Backup BizTalk Server SQL Server job, the job is unsuccessful. When this problem occurs, error messages that are similar to the following are logged in the SQL Server error log:
Job 'Backup BizTalk Server' : Step 1, 'BackupFull' : Began Executing Date Time
Msg 50000, Sev 16: ecsqlqa01,4024 is not a linked server [SQLSTATE 42000]
Msg 50000, Sev 16: Failed running sp_BackupAllFull [SQLSTATE 42000]

Cause

This problem occurs when the instance of Microsoft SQL Server that houses your Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 databases is listening on a TCP port that is different from the default TCP port of 1433.

Service pack information

Hotfix information

Prerequisites

You must have hotfix 872773 applied before you apply this hotfix. Review the Readme.htm file that is included with the hotfix 872773 package. You only have to implement the "Modifying the source system" section in the Readme.htm file because hotfix 885913 modifies the tables that are used for the backup job on the source side. You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix.
