FIX: You receive an "Invalid URI" error message when you configure the "Logical address" property for the send handler that is used by the EDI Adapter

Symptoms

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, when you configure the Logical address property for the send handler that is used by the EDI Adapter, you receive the following error message:
EDI Customer Editor

Invalid URI: "EDI://123456789:ZZ:123456789123456"

Reason: routing address longer than 14 characters

URI Format should be: "EDI://<max35chars>:<max4chars>:<max14chars>"
You should not receive this error message because the X-12 specification lets the Interchange Sender element and the Receiver ID specified in the ISA06 and ISA08 segments of the interchange control header to be 15 characters maximum.

Restart requirement

After you apply this hotfix, you must restart the BizTalk Base EDI Service and the BizTalk Server Application Service.
