The Host Integration Server 2004 Data Access Tool (DAT) creates a copy of a data source name (DSN) when the DAT converts the DSN if the name already exists

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you convert a file data source name (DSN) to a system DSN in the Data Access Tool (DAT), the tool makes a copy of the data source if the name already exists as a System DSN. If you convert the File DSN a third time, DAT will add the characters "()". These characters are not valid in the Data Access Tool.
