Terminal Services Home Folder path does not inherit the parent folder permissions in Windows Server 2003

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you use the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Users and Computers Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in to change the Terminal Services Home Folder path on the Terminal Services Profile tab of the user properties dialog box, the Terminal Services Home Folder path will have the following permissions:
  • Administrators - Full Control
  • User - Full Control
In this case, permissions that are set on the parent folder are not inherited.

However, when you use the Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in to change or to create the Home folder path on the Profile tab of the user properties dialog box, permissions that are set on the parent folder are inherited.
