How to enable Live Communication Server traffic through ISA Server 2000

Introduction

This article describes how to enable Microsoft Office Live Communication Server traffic through Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000.

If ISA 2000 is the public firewall

To enable Live Communication Server traffic if ISA Server 2000 is the public firewall, follow these steps:
1.Create a protocol definition for the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) protocol. To do this, follow these steps:
a. In the Policy Elements folder in the ISA Server Management console tree, right-click Protocol Definitions, point to New, and then click Definition.
b. Type SIP in the Protocol definition name box, and then click Next.
c. Type 5061 in the Port number box.
d. Click TCP in the Protocol type list.
e. Click Inbound in the Direction box.
f. Click Next two times, and then click Finish.
Note You do not have to configure any secondary connections.
2.Create a server publishing rule to enable incoming requests to the Live Communications Server proxy server from Internet clients. To do this, follow these steps:
a. In the Publishing folder in the ISA Server Management console tree, right-click Server Publishing Rules, point to New, and then click Rule.
b. Type SIP in the Server publishing rule name box, and then click Next.
c. Type the IP address of the Live Communications Server proxy server.
d. Type the appropriate external IP address of the public ISA server, and then click Next.
e. Click SIP as the mapped server protocol, and then click Next.
f. Click Apply to all requests.
g. Click Next, and then click Finish.
3.Create a protocol rule to enable outgoing requests from the Live Communications Server front-end server to the Live Communications Server proxy server. To do this, follow these steps:
a. In the Access Policy folder in the ISA Server Management console tree, right-click Protocol Rules, point to New, and then click Rule.
b. Type a name for the rule, and then click Next.
c. Click Allow, and then click Next.
d. In the Apply this rule to list, click Selected protocols, and then click Next.
e. Click to select the check box next to SIP, click Next three times, and then click Finish.

If ISA 2000 is the private firewall

To enable Live Communication Server traffic if ISA Server 2000 is the private firewall, follow these steps:
1.Create a protocol definition for the SIP protocol. To do this, follow these steps:
a. In the Policy Elements folder in the ISA Server Management console tree, right-click Protocol Definitions, point to New, and then click Definition.
b. Type SIP in the Protocol definition name box, and then click Next.
c. Type 5061 in the Port number box.
d. Click TCP in the Protocol type list.
e. Click Inbound in the Direction box.
f. Click Next two times, and then click Finish.
Note You do not have to configure any secondary connections.
2.Create a server publishing rule to enable incoming requests to the Live Communications Server front-end server from the Live Communications Server proxy server. To do this, follow these steps:

f. Click Apply to all requests, click Next, and then click Finish.
3.Create a protocol rule to enable outgoing requests from the Live Communications Server front-end server to the Live Communications Server proxy server. To do this, follow these steps:
a. In the Access Policy folder in the ISA Server Management console tree, right-click Protocol Rules, point to New, and then click Rule.
b. Type a name for the rule, and then click Next.
c. Click Allow, and then click Next.
d. In the Apply this rule to list, click Selected protocols and then click Next.
e. Click to select the check box next to SIP, click Next three times, and then click Finish.
