Messages may not be transmitted correctly when you configure a side-by-side installation of Message Queuing and MSMQT

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

If you configure Microsoft Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ) and BizTalk Server 2004 Message Queuing Adapter (MSMQT) on the same computer, messages may not be transmitted correctly between the local computer that is running Microsoft BizTalk 2004 Server and the remote server.

Cause

This problem may occur when all the following conditions are true:
  • You have configured both Message Queuing and MSMQT in a side-by-side installation on the same computer.
  • A message is sent from both the local computer that is running Message Queuing and MSMQT to a remote server that is also configured with either Message Queuing or MSMQT.
When this problem occurs, neither Message Queuing nor MSMQT bind to the correct IP address on the outgoing sockets. This causes both Message Queuing and MSMQT to communicate with the same remote server. When the remote server transmits the acknowledgement packets, the packets may be returned to an incorrect location on the local server. A time delay that may exceed the timeout values for a message transmission may occur, causing a message transmission failure.
