Question:

How can I track a sold lot-numbered finished good item and track it back to the assembly document? My purpose is to inquire back on the lot number of the components which make up the lot-numbered finished good after it is sold.

Answer:

The system allows you to link the items in Bill of Materials, but there is no way at this time to print the linking. The closest to this is the Assembly Lot History report. It would show the linking within Bill of materials, but it does not touch Sales order processing. Print out the Assembly Lot History report : (Reports > Inventory > History > Assembly Lot History report). If you print by item number and you choose the finished good nothing will show (no linking). If you print the lot number component it will show you what finished good it went into.
