View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows 2000, the horizontal scroll bar of the rich edit control may not appear if the rich edit control contains only right-aligned text. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You use the EM_SETTARGETDEVICE message to set the target device.
  • You set the line width wider than the visible area of the rich edit control.
This problem also occurs when the rich edit control is in right-to-left (RTL) mode or is using RTL paragraph formatting.

When this problem occurs, you cannot scroll to right-aligned text in the rich edit control.
