Question:

I have a credit memo created against a child account. Can it be applied to an invoice of its parent?

Answer:

A parent's credit memo, as well as payments and returns, can be applied to any invoice belonging to the parent or its child accounts; however, a child's credit memo, and payments and returns, can be applied only to its own invoices - not its parent or other child accounts of the parent.
