Posting Multicurrency revaluations

TechKnowledge Content

Question:

After choosing to post my Multicurrency revaluations and selecting Revalue, I do get a Revaluation Journal and Register, but none of the affected accounts get updated in the inquiry windows. This is a financial routine, why is nothing happening? I've done this multiple times. Does the fact that the accounts that were revalued have not been used in any transactions since the most recent revaluation have any affect?

Answer:

Something is indeed happening. A batch is being created in the General Ledger since the posting settings were only defined to post to General Ledger. Your account balances won't be updated until this batch is posted through the Generl Ledger. If you chose to revalue multiple times, a batch gets created each time regardless of the account's activity since the last revaluation. The system will simply calculate another unrealized gain/loss based off the new exchange rate.
