You receive "A valid exchange rate does not exist" error message when you try to enter a Payables Management transaction for a foreign currency

SYMPTOMS

You receive "A valid exchange rate does not exist" error message when you try to enter a Payables Management transaction for a foreign currency in Great Plains. When I click continue, there is a valid exchange rate for the currency.

CAUSE

A setup table may be damaged.

RESOLUTION

Run full File Maintenance on the Multicurrency Setup table. Ctree and Pervasive.SQL users, follow these steps:

1. Make a backup.

2. Have all other users exit the system.

3. Click File, click Maintenance, click Shrink, select Multicurrency Setup from the list of Logical Tables, click Insert, click OK, select a Destination for the report, and then click OK.

4. When the Shrink process is completed, click File, click Maintenance, click Rebuild, select Multicurrency Setup from the list of Logical Tables, click Insert, click OK, select a Destination for the report, and then click OK.

5. When the Rebuild process is completed, click File, click Maintenance, click Check Links, select Multicurrency Setup from the list of Logical Tables, click Insert, click OK, select a Destination for the report, and then click OK.

For Microsoft SQL users, full File Maintenance is running Check Links only. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Make a backup.

2. Have all other users exit the system.

3. Click File, click Maintenance, click Check Links, select Multicurrency Setup from the list of Logical Tables, click Insert, click OK, select a Destination for the report, and then click OK.
