Issue

How to get the components from BOM on the SOP Blank Order Form for Microsoft Dynamics GP?

Resolution

Note - To get the Bill of Materials Components on the Sales Document, you will not be able to print Serial and Lot Numbers.

A. LINKING:

1. Choose the Tables icon from the top menu bar.

2. In the Tables window, highlight SOP_LINE_WORK and choose the Open button.

3. In the Table Definition window choose the Relationships button.

4. Then choose the NEW button.

B. New:

1. Click on the Ellipse button to the left of the Secondary Table line. (The button with three periods)

2. Select the Bill of Materials Header and click OK.

3. For the Secondary Table Key select: bmBillIdxID.

4. Match the appropriate fields:

5. Primary Table: Secondary Table:

6. Item Number Item Number.

C. Opening the Report:

1. Click on the Reports icon from the top menu bar.

2. From the Original Reports side, highlight the SOP Blank Invoice Form and choose insert.

3. Then on the Modified Reports side, highlight the same report and choose the Open button.

4. In the Report Definition window choose the Tables button.

Tables:

a. In the Report Table Relationships window, highlight the Sales Serial/Lot Work and History* and choose the Remove button. Select OK.

b. In the Report Table Relationships window, highlight the Sales Transaction Amounts Work and choose the New button.

c. Highlight the Bill of Materials Header* and choose the OK button.

d. In the Report Table Relationships window, highlight the Bill of Materials Header* and choose the New button.

e. Highlight the Bill of Materials Components* and choose the OK button.

f. Select the Close button.

5. In the Report Definition window choose the Restrictions button.

Restrictions:

a. In the Report Restrictions window choose the Type and Number of SOP_Serial_Lot = self restriction and select Delete. Select Yes.

b. Select New.

i. Name the restriction Item Number.

In the fields section:

i. In the fields section, click on the drop down list for Report Table and choose the Bill of Materials Component.

ii. Click on the drop down list for Table Fields and choose Item Number.

iii. Choose the Add Field button.

iv. In the operators section:

v. In the operators section, choose the = button.

In the fields section:

i. In the fields section, click on the drop down list for Report Table and choose the Bill of Materials Component.

ii. Click on the drop down list for Table Fields and choose Item Number.

iii. Choose the Add Field button.

6. In the Report Definition window choose the Layout button.

7. Delete the Serial/Lot Number and the (C) Serial Lot Quantity fields out of the body. Go to Tools | Report Section Options and unmark the body or if you want the body, unmark the suppress when field is empty (under the body).

8. Select OK.

Calculated Fields:

a. In the Toolbox choose Calculated Fields from the drop down list.

b. Select (C) Serial Lot Band, Select Open, Select Delete.

c. Select (C) Serial Lot Quantity, Select Open, change the expression type to Calculated. Select Continue, Change the result type to integer. Go to the Constants tab and select integer as the type. Leave the Constant blank and select ADD.

d. Select OK.

e. Exit out of the layout and save your changes.

9. Choose the Layout button.

Removing fields from the report:

a. In the B section of the report highlight both of the Serial/Lot fields and choose delete from the keyboard.

Bringing fields onto the report:

a. In the Toolbox choose Bill of Materials Component from the drop down list.

b. In the scrolling window find Component Item Number and drag it into the B section on the report.

c. If you want the Component Quantity, I would create a calculated field.

d. Result Type is Integer.

In the fields section:

i. Choose the Fields tab.

ii. Click on the drop down list for Report Table and choose Bill of Materials Component.

iii. Click on the drop down list for Table Fields and choose Design Qty and choose the Add button.
iv. In the operators section:

v. In the operators section, choose the * button.

vi. In the fields section:

vii. Choose the Fields tab.

viii. Click on the drop down list for Report Table and choose Sales Transaction Amounts Work.

ix. Click on the drop down list for Table Fields and choose Qty To Invoice and choose the Add button.

x. Select OK to save the Calculated Field.

xi. Drag this field into the Body next to the Component Item Number field.

10. Choose the X from the top right corner of the Report Layout window.

11. Save your changes.

12. Click OK in the Report Definition window.

13. From the top menu bar, choose File | Great Plains Dynamics.

14. Give users access to the modified report in the Security Setup window (Setup | System | Security) within Dynamics.
