Question:

What are the steps necessary to create an integration to bring inGL transactions with MDA information?

Answer:

Procedures for creating GL Transactions with MDA information:

Four source queries are required. In thie example, each of the queries has their own source file. Example of the Queries created:

1.GL Transaction Header -The GL Transaction Header Query contains the Header information for the journal entry. For example, the fields that are contained in the GL Transaction Header:

  • Date
  • Document Number
  • Reference
2.GL Transaction Line -The GL Transaction Line Query contains the detail information for the journal entry. For example, the fields that are contained in the GL Transaction Line:

  • Account Number
  • Amount
  • Date
  • Document Number
3.GL Transaction MDA Group -The GL Transaction MDA Group Query contains information for the MDA accounts within the GL Transaction that are assigned a MDA Group ID. For example, the fields that are contained in the GL Transaction MDA Group:

  • MDA Group ID
  • Account Number
  • Document Number
4.GL Transaction MDA Code -The GL Transaction MDA Code Query contains the detail information of the MDA Codes that are assigned to the MDA Group Ids for the MDA accounts. For example, the fields that are contained in the GL Transaction MDA Code:

  • MDA Code ID
  • MDA Group ID
  • Account Number
  • Document Number

The GL Transaction Header is linked to the GL Transaction Line by the Document Number.

  • The GL Transaction Line is linked to the GL Transaction MDA Group by the Document Number and the Account Number.
  • The GL Transaction MDA Group is linked to the GL Transaction MDA Code by the Document Number, Account Number, and MDA Group ID.
If the relationships are not correct, the documents will not integrate successfully.

After the relationship is setup correctly, the destination mapping needs to be done. Add the destination, choose General Ledger, then General Journal.

Four areas in the Destination Mapping window will be used for this Integration:

1) General Journal - mapping to the GL Transaction Header Query

2) Entries - mapping to the GL Transaction Line Query

3) Analysis Posting Detail - mapping to the GL Transaction MDA Group

4) Entries - mapping to the GL Transaction MDA Code
