Unmarking Maintain General Ledger Account History In Multicurrency Setup when not registered for Multicurrency

TechKnowledge Content

Question:

I am trying to unmark the Maintain History options in the General Ledger Setup window (Setup-Financial-General Ledger), but when I do so I receive a message "You must keep General Ledger account history because multicurrency account history is being maintained." How do I unmark the maintain multicurrency history option when I am not registered for Multicurrency and cannot open the Multicurrency Setup window (Setup-Financial-Multicurrency)?

Answer:

A General Ledger year has been closed, but some accounts were posted with the wrong posting type. Adjusting entries need to be made to correct the balances. Maintain General Ledger account history in the Multicurrency Setup Window (Setup-Financial-Mulitcurrency) also needs to be unmarked.

However, an attempt to access the Multicurrency Setup window produces the error that You are not privileged to open this form because Multicurrency is not registered. What should be done if no MC registration keys are available? Use ISQL to update the Multicurrency setup table (MC40000).

Execute the following statement in Query Analyzer against the company's database.

update MC40000 set MNSUMHST = 0

This will change the value of the checkbox from marked to unmarked. After unmarking this, the user will be able to unmark maintain account and transaction history in the General Ledger Setup window.
