The Lsass.exe process or the Svchost.exe service that hosts the RPCSS may leak memory in Windows Server 2003

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

In Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the following problems may occur:
  • The Local Security Authority Service (Lsass.exe) process may leak memory.
  • The Svchost.exe service that hosts the Remote Procedure Call Server Service (RPCSS) may leak memory.
This behavior appears in System Monitor as an increase in the private bytes counter.

Note To monitor the Svchost.exe process that host the RPCSS and the Lsass.exe process, see the Process\Private Bytes and the Process\Virtual Bytes performance counters for each process in System Monitor.
