The Exchange Server Migration Wizard does not copy all the messages from a .pst file to an Exchange Server 2003 computer

When you use the Exchange Server Migration Wizard on Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 to migrate messages to a .pst file, and then migrate the messages from the .pst file to an Exchange Server 2003 computer, there are fewer files on the destination server than where migrated from the source server.

This behavior occurs if duplicate messages are migrated to the .pst file and then to the Exchange Server 2003 computer.

The PR_SEARCH_KEY property contains a binary-comparable key that identifies correlated objects for a search. The Exchange Server Migration Wizard compares the PR_SEARCH_KEY property of each message. If one message is copied to the target server, and then another message with the same PR_SEARCH_KEY property is to be copied, The Exchange Server Migration Wizard identifies the messages as the same, picks the most recent message, and then either replaces the existing message on the destination server or does not copy the duplicate message to the destination server.
