Introduction

This article discusses the HyperTerminal feature in unattended installations of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows 2000. This article also contains information about how to configure the Unattended.txt answer file so that the HyperTerminal feature is not included in an unattended installation.

By default, when you perform an unattended installation of Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000, the HyperTerminal feature is installed. If you do not want to install the HyperTerminal feature when you perform an unattended installation of Windows, edit the Unattended.txt answer file to include the following entry in the [Components] section: 
hypertrm = Off
