Replace a network adapter

To replace a network adapter on a computer that is running ISA Server 2004 or Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway, Medium Business Edition, follow these steps.

  6. Log on to the computer and install the new network adapter.

Note The Microsoft Windows Plug and Play hardware-detection operation and ISA Server 2004 or Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway, Medium Business Edition detect and replace most network adapters automatically, but this depends on the drivers that are associated with the network adapter.
  7. Configure the TCP/IP configuration.

Note If you replace a network adapter and assign it an IP address in a range that is already included in a network object defined in ISA Server or Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway, Medium Business Edition, ISA Server or Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway, Medium Business Edition sees the new network adapter as part of that network.

    1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
    2. In the list of services in the right pane, double-click Microsoft Firewall.
    3. In the Startup type box, click Automatic.
    4. In the Service type area, click Start.
    5. Click OK.
